Quartair initiates and supports exhibitions, projects and exchanges with artists and artist-run-spaces at home and abroad. It pursues an emphatic cooperation with other cultural organizations.
Quartair creates with this a platform for artistists in The Hague operating in an international network with attention for developments in the contemporary visual arts.
Quartair was founded in 1992 as a non-profit organization by a group of young artists, just after graduation from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague.
Quartair is located at 'The Hague Breadfactory' (picture) , built in 1902, at the Toussaintkade in The Hague. The monumental building is managed by Foundation B141 and was renovated in in 2010. Since then, Quartair is home of 7 artists studios, and the exhibition space on the ground floor.
Quartair is one of the longest running artist-run-spaces in The Hague.
